It is no surprise that holidays are some of the most stressful times of the year. But use this beautifully written list as a reminder of what this holiday season should really hold. Practice these mindfulness tips to enjoy this magical time of the year!
On our recent creative travel retreat to India, we came across many people who lived so simply and modestly that we started to question our own living habits. Now more than even consumerism is at an all time high. 2018 US holiday e-commerce sales are expected to grow 16.2% to $123.39 billion! Yes, that is billion!
We were so touched by the simple gestures of people in India. When they came to visit us or even the host with whom we were staying, they came with vegetables from their fields, or even snacks and sweets lovingly prepared at home. Perhaps it was because they could not afford an elaborate gift but the concept and the thought was so special that it inspired us to think of ways to be more conscious, thoughtful and less wasteful this holiday season.
This list of mindfulness tips for the holidays seemed to hit the nail right on the head as it relates to seeking more meaning in life especially during the holidays. We hope these tips to help you be more conscious in your gift giving this season.
Mindfulness tips to reduce holiday stress
Such a simple and beautiful way to change your directive of stressing out to buying the prefect present, wrappings and all the added stress of the consumerism mindset for the holidays.
It is hard not to accept that most gifts get returned or exchanged or worse yet, forgotten in a closet somewhere. But by being more present, mindful and conscious in our thoughts and actions to spread more joy, peace and positive thoughts to all around we can make a bigger impact in the lives of our friends and family – one that will never go out of style, exchanged or even forgotten.
Join us this holiday season and perhaps even just pick one thing off this list. Let us know if you have any other ways to reduce consumerism and increase humanity this holiday season.
